Yes, Farfel the dog.
He used to snap his jaws shut after the long Chocolate.

When I was in High School I fell in love with the gal who created Lamb Chop.
30 years later I married a woman that looked a lot like her.

Who remembers the old soda (coke) machines with bottles that you had to pull out of the machine after you inserted your coin. Sometimes if you pulled on 2 bottles at the same time, you could get two for the price of one!
Ohhhh --
Of course the real ones ofmy youth didn't look as shiny and new as the photo! they sat outside the Texaco gas station year round

I make these at work.... paper clip rattler. Put them on the customer counter and mark as rattle snake eggs.
You guessed it. At least once a day someone checks them.

Nope - Its "Free-on-Board". As opposed to CIF or Cost, Insurance & Freight. the former is ex factory and the latter is effectively as delivered.

Myself included. Once I looked them up it didn't take me long to figure out why we didn't have it.

Very good stuff, both of them. For many children growing up without the benefit of a consumer society like the US, these were the only way to add a savory taste to a bland food and generally poor food supply.
Many "back in the day" comments on this thread are about consumer products, products that were like gold in other parts of the world including places we think of today as consumer outposts of the US like the EU, UK and Australia. Sodas of most types never became generally available until the 60s and certainly not from vending machines is one example.

Making your own food before there was the abundance of prepared food-type products.
Here's our annual "Kielbasa Kamp" My dad's Slovak recipe I've been making since I was about 8 (under his watchful tutelage until he passed) It's usually our usual New Years Day project. However the pictures were taken from a batch we made at Thanksgiving 2019.
The homemade smoker uses green applewood for flavor. made from a 30 gallon drum, a 5 gallon pail and several lengths of 3" heat duct pipe.
Sorry - don't know how to rotate the pics.

Another one of my hobbies. Homemade sausage. Ham. English Bacon, and Pastrami.
All smoked, vacuum sealed, and frozen.
My kids and grandkids are always ready to eat their share.
Even when camping I take items with me to prepare my meals from scratch. I actually use my stovetop and oven daily.
Prepared foods cost far more and often contain far more salt than I'm allowed.
