I remember the first time my family went camping. My dad rented a soft-top pop up. The rental place attached a hitch to the bumper of our ‘65 Rambler American station wagon with chains. I remember it bent the bumper a bit and dad was not pleased. We had a great trip though, and it started many years of camping and rv’ing.

Brine shrimp as i recall. Entertaining for a few days before they got a burial at sea. Those were the days that whatever you flushed in this area went straight to the nearest large body of water that drained into the ocean.

The Sea-Monkeys were "created" and marketed by the same guy as the the X-ray Spex, Crazy Crabs, Invisible Goldfish, and Hair-Raising Monsters. Which all were sold in the back pages of comic books.

Some considered Harold von Braunhut, the mastermind behind all those gimmicks as some kind of genius. His ability to sell anything, even himself as seen in this article from 2011, https://www.theawl.com/2011/06/the-s...d-sea-monkeys/, did get him into problems which he found ways out of.
His actions behind the scenes brings to mind someone we are unfortunately all too familiar with today.

How about American Flyer train sets. Not to be confused with Lionel which used a 3-rail track. American Flyer used only two rails. Looked more realistic.
I just saw a complete set for sale online for $1600.

I had a good sized Lionel set as a youngster. Dad boarded a large area in the attic and I ran trains for hours. That set would be worth a lot of $$$ now.

Who remembers "Magic Moon Rocks" from the late 50's? In the 60's they dropped "Moon" and just called them "Magic Rocks".

Local to the tri-state area, in the ‘80s and ‘90s there was an amusement/water park in Vernon NJ called Action Park. It was part of a ski area, a way to generate revenue during the summer months. We knew it as Traction park, it was well known for injuries and several deaths. Most of the rides were designed by the owner and people working there without any engineering experience. To help matters, they sold alcohol and it flowed freely. One of the attractions is shown here, a water slide with a loop. There is a documentary about the place called Class Action Park.

I think they were an organized way of playing a combination of horseshoes and mumbly peg.
I worked for an auctioneer for a while several years ago, JARTS are illegal to sell in the state of Ohio.
Anyone still have their "pet rock"?

I remember that we lost a kid or two around the country on these. But there were much more dangerous things to play with too.
