IDK... fortunately, we mostly didn’t have to go as my Mom didn’t want to drag my brother and me when she shopped. Probably did, we wore what she brought home, LOL! Sometimes I didn’t like it much, yeah that wasn’t a factor. Same as we ate what she made for dinner, and we all ate the same thing. If you didn’t like it, tough... you ate it anyway. Not that there was really much that my brother and I wouldn’t eat, boys back in the day!

I remember sharing a telephone line with the neighbors (party line). I remember Gold Bond and S&H green stamps.

I must be old too, remember the 2 shorts and a Long ring on the phone hanging on the wall, cause it probably weighed 40 pounds. All them younger collectors are in search of them now! But more interesting than that was to hear all the clicks as the other people on your party line would pick up and listen to your conservation, yea if that were today they probably would have got a ear full.
Well guess I will mosey down to the penny store, mom just gave me 6 bottles and a Nickle, and I am hankering for a Nesbit Cream Soda, gonna set me back 12 cents a dime for the soda and 2 cent deposit on the bottle.

I remember when $30 would buy four or five large paper bags full of groceries, and collecting all those bottles form neighbors so dad would take me down to the local grocer and my mind would be blown at all the penny candy I could choose from. I remember mowing lawns for people for money when I was 11-12 years old and the first time I ever heard the words "cable tv". Camping was something we did as a family and it usually involved a tent and no electricity. And I do remember when tv and radio would sign off, when the last broadcast of the day was John Wayne talking about his beautiful America, and then, fuzz and static. Long gone are those days but oh how we could use them now.

Growing up, all of our cars only had the old 455 air conditioners: all four windows down at 55 mph.

Still have the Craftsman Jointer and Table Saw and the owners manual that DW's father bought in 1939

Our number we CL (clearwater)1636. the numbers were the house number. The phone was a party line our ring was 2 quick pause 1 ring, longer pause and it would start over. Heaven forbid you got caught listening to the other parties on the phone. that earned you a switch. Playing outside until the street light came on and going on bike hikes with your friends; a thermos and PB&J in the basket. I am 65 and grew up in a bigger city in Ohio. Remember chicken pox parties. No social distancing there.

We had a party line as well, and we lived on route 3 (dirt road).

Edit: That bike is actually mine, and it got me remembering things like the stick shift and fancy speedometer and "slicks" that were common on bikes back then. Good times!
I have an earlier version of your bike (in my barn). It is a 5-speed, stick shift Schwinn StingRay, narrow tires and a silver metal-flake banana seat. It is about a 1965 model if I recall. Just before I got my drivers license at 14 years old (I'd been driving my '42 Willys MB Jeep for a year or so out on the forest roads).
I also have an Exxon/Enco banana seat (tiger striped) bike that was my brother's. . . . yea, it's time to clean out the barn . . .
Yep, the Willys is still there. I just need time to get the brake kit put in that I bought when I put it in the barn . . .

We still have Sinclair gas stations here in Montana. Though they are becoming an endangered species. The just built a new Sinclair convenience north of Gardiner, Mt at the north entrance to Yellowstone Park. They used to be in "downtown Gardiner", but just moved in the last year or so.

I've got that same table saw in my basement, without the side extension, and sitting on a homemade wooden 'table' (actually an oversized saw horse). Don't think it came with a blade guard

We didn't have a party line, I don't think. I can still remember the phone number, though, as well as my grandparent's number... my mother used to talk to her mother about daily! Other phone numbers? Ha. Hell, I could barely remember my work number during my last job... that I had for fourteen years!

Oh, and who else liked Fireball XL5?? Yeah, dating myself there I know!
