Anyone remember propane lights in TT's? As a kid, both of our Yellowstones had these propane lights. Used the same mantle as a propane lantern.

Yes. Had a similar one in an Ideal TT. Really liked it. Helped warm the TT on cool evenings and it was very bright.

I remember seeing those lp lamps in houses, as well as the white gas and oil lamps with reflector plates in brackets mounted on the walls.

Remember these? Usually located on the back pages of comic books. How many out there ordered at least one of these items? The X-ray Glasses always seemed to be a big seller.

We had "Uncle Marty" in our rural 3 road neighborhood. Same uniform, same type of truck.

We had "Uncle Al" on Long Beach Island in NJ. One of my kids would always order a screwball, to which he would alway say "you are what you eat". My youngest is now 26 and all 3 kids still remember getting ice cream from him.

I remember seeing one all the time in a nearby town when i was growing up. They werent much of a car or much of a boat. Combine them, and it is at least interesting!

Sharp looking car! However, the wheels are not period correct for a Muscle Car. Cragar Mags, Chrome Reverse and Rally wheels were the style during this era.

What was your first job?

We lived outside Berea, OH in Middleburg Hts. Berea was (and is) known for the geologic formation called Berea Sandstone. There were numerous sandstone quarries in the area, which at one point became flodded from hitting the clear cold aquifers and filling up.

One of these quarries was bought by an enterprising man after WWII and with dynamite and hard work, turned it into Smith Road Lake, a swimming, fishing, and picnic venue very popular in the 50's and 60's.

My (and every other kid in our 3 road neighborhood -- if you can call it that) started their first jobs there in the summer months. Cleaning beach, working the concession stand, painting picnic tables, cutting grass, etc. and maybe even lifegaurding if you got your red cross certification. For a 14 or 15 year old, it was a dream of being able to get a jo and the first step to becoming a "grown up" . Pay was $.50 / hr and after the second year, you may get a raise to $0.75.

Believe it or not, I paid for my first 2 years of college from savings from that job, working 7 days a week (unless it was raining), from 9 am to 7 pm. But I wouldn't have traded that experience for any other.

I feel you. This man spent much much monies on this car. Most of which I would have not done, but it isn't mine. I guess that's why they make/sell different stuff.

Just some info on this car(that I remember). It was a hard top, tach in the dash, power steering, air conditioning, posi-track(may be std), and a painted top...?? two tone option.

As an 8yo I learned to back up a hay wagon with a John Deer "B" with tricycle front and a hand clutch. The pay was always the same, 3 meals a day and somewhere to sleep.

You got me beat! I was 10 when I started and driving that same model! Also milking and carrying water for 1000 chickens. Raised them from 2 days old until 9 weeks, cleaned the house and started another batch. We used the Purina Feed program.
