Dometic Power Awning Tie Down Kits
Going to pickup material tomorrow to make 10 kits. Would like to know who would like a set. Probably be priced around $175 due to cost of tubing.

I'm glad this came up. I have a manual awning now but my next unit will probably have electric. Can the electric awnings not be tied down with the type of straps and stakes I use for the manual? Thanks in advance for any education on that topic.

The A&E Dometic power awnings are not designed to be tied down. The lower arms are too flimsy plus they are supposedly designed to 'self dump' rain water. Even in slight winds, they will bang and eventually destroy themselves. The poles also allow for adding slide in sun shades without over loading the lower arms.

All 20 inner poles have been drilled and the 560 holes chamfered, all outer poles have been drilled at top for hitch pin (40) and have to be chamfered, outer pole slugs (20) turned & drilled for pads. Still have to make the 20 outer pole pads and cut out, drill & form the 20 pole pivot/tie down brackets and cut & drill the 20 stow brackets. Should have them ready to assemble and ship sometime Mon. 11Mar.

I like mine so much i ordered another set for my new 5er. The guy buying my old TT liked them so they stayed on. This picture shows them deployed, but i didn't have the tie down straps on yet. Very sturdy and easy to install.

If I have these, does this mean that I can leave my awning out almost regardless of what the wind is doing? If so, my wife would LOVE that.

Most people do leave them out that have them, but a little common sense should govern you also. I have left ours out in sustained 25 mph winds. If the material starts fluttering severely, I will take it in altho the arms do not move, DW just doesn't like to hear the noise. The slide out awnings are much worse for making noise than the awning.

He said (IN USE) now if he said in stow that would be a diffrent Pic. Youroo!! I like what you said about the Sunshade use,as per the weight pulling down the awning,I dont think people realise the weight of the shade or the pull tension on hold down straps. Good Job,Coot!

Do you have any of these left? If so, I'd like to purchase a set.
