Down sizing queen bed platform

Removed the platform from the bed thinking of narrowing by about 3" so our standard size mattress fits better. Now that I have it apart, can't decide which way to narrow it. Simplest way is to cut 3" out of center and just re-weld the tubes together. Will have to move the tubes where the struts attach or weld a plate between the tubes.

Given your skills Neil, I agree that cutting the 3" out of the centerline would be your best and most structurally sound option.

Changed my other mind and will just put it back together without cutting it down. Can only gain 1.5" due to the base platform itself. Not worth the effort.
