Found this while exploring a creek a couple weeks ago. Weirdest rock I've ever seen.

Dude. I googled that. I think it’s a meteorite. I hope you took it for observation.

I've got 3 samples I took from it. One on it's way to Washington State Univ. One to a local Univ Geo dept. and one in our lab at work. I magnified one of the chips I took and it's almost identical to a Carbonaceous Chondrite. One test it fails is it's not Magnetic. 95% of all Meteorites are Magnetic. If this were one of the "Rare" Lunar type.....with the size of it....I can retire tomorrow.

10-4. You are ahead of me. I did see where some are hundreds per gram.
You must be a rock hound.

Amateur "Rock Pup" maybe. Mom was into rock collecting and I just fell into it.

Since it is in a stream, the circular depressions worn into its surface were likely caused by smaller rocks caught in the eddies as the water flowed over and around the rock.

My first impression was a meteor also.

All good possibilities. Basalt ? If I lived near an ocean or in close proximity to a volcano...then I'd say yeah.

No telling how long it's been buried. It was recently uncovered in the creek when flooding removed about a foot of the bottom of the creek and it appeared.

You may not live near to an ocean, but an ocean once lived where you are now.

You’ll find volcanoes (extinct and active) at extinct and active subduction zones. East coast, west coast, and mid-continent rift zone. Plenty of basalt.

Thinking of one of those old Creep Show movies when farmer finds a rock, then he starts turning into a plant....
