Angry Furniture

We have a 2014 Forest River 378 XL Motorhome. It currently has 19,000 miles and our sofa/bed looks like it was attacked by a wild animal. The whole sofa is shredding. The side chair and the driver and passenger seats, which look like the same material, are fine. Has anyone else had this happen to there sofa's?? Does anyone know if these sofa's are being included in a class action lawsuit in California.

If you search the forum you will find many cases of the fake leather shredding. Forest River has fixed some but not most of the folks with this problem. Since you are well over the year or two warranty period I think FR will do nothing to fix this problem. But it may well be worth a try. I know that with my Prime Time Sanibel 5th wheel I had the same problem. They told we that they would not replace but would work something out with me at Goshen. But we were unable to go to Goshen IN that year. So we replaced the theater seating with a new unit from RecPro there unit and fabric is much better quality than the OEM stuff that was in the coach. By the way my defective furniture was made by Lane company, but Prime Time does not use them any longer I am told.

Thanks for the information regarding my shredding sofa. I have already done what you suggested and got the answer you thought I would. Forest River said they were sorry but did give me the name of the material company Brian Pletcher Sales. Not sure where they are located. Brian got back to me and asked if I could give him the name on a tag that should be on the sofa so he would know if it was his. It is his he just doesn't want the trouble. Anyway, will have the sofa recovered.

Hope this works out for you. My wife and I looked into recovering the couch but that turned out to be more expensive than buying a new couch. Also we would still have the very poorly built Lane furniture. I already had to replace one of the parachute pulls for the foot extension and the entire frame was of a cheap wooden type. New couch was steel and power foot rest. I know sort of over kill.

Thanks Chuck for the reply. Spent most of today contacting Forest River, The couch mfg., and the material supplier. Got a surprise from the material people they are willing to send me enough material to do my couch free of charge. Just need to get them the number of the material used for my couch. Will pick it up tomorrow and see where it leads me. I will keep in mind the cost to recover that you mentioned.
