Getting his money's worth

Got passed yesterday on I-5 in N-Cal by this vintage camper and driver (about the same vintage as truck).

A 1951 Chevy 1-ton with Avion camper.

When I arrived at the RV park he was set up in the next row behind me.

Only changes he bought it a few decades ago from original owner was wheels and transplanting a 4.3L (262 cu in) engine under the hood.

I wonder if he ever has problems with the snooty “10 year old rule” campgrounds?

I've thought it would be fun to mount a Ford F-100 body on top of a modern F-150. Cool looks and powerful and would have a comfortable interior.

Certainly not this one which is a really nice park. The owner seemed like the kind of guy that would merely give the party telling him " too old" a "Freeway Salute" and move on to a park that would be glad to have this rig in their park.

FWIW the park I stayed in the night before could be one of the "snooty" types but I shared it with not only a big rig costing well into 7-figures but also a beautiful1965 MCI-5 (old Greyhound bus) conversion.

It's usually not age, but appearance.

Very cool. I wonder if you might be able to get a tour of the inside from him before you or him leaves? That should be very neat.
