Got some work done.

I will get the color in a few weeks.
The meaning is an old nautical one. Sailors received a sparrow for sailing 5000 miles. (I don't have enough room for all the ones I could get). They would also have hold fast tattooed on their hands to help them hold rope better. And finally the crossed anchors are a sign of a Boatswain's Mate which is my job in the Coast Guard.

And boy did it hurt.

Nice work! I really like the old school nautical inkwork. Dont forget about the pig and chicken sailors got on the top of their feet...

Way to go in carrying on the tradition!

Very nice.
Update the color pic when you get it done.

One thing I've learned about getting a tattoo is an hour after the first one your ready for a second.................

LoL - from my casual observation, I'd say its an "addiction". My husband is nearly covered...you'd never know because they do not go below his bicep or above his neckline. His chest piece is incredible - having more than 28 hours on it..his backpiece was 22....

At tattoo conventions to those unfamiliar with him, he may look like he is going for his first. Haha NOT. If he wears shorts theres no missing the traditional harem of pin up girls and other old school nautical art that covers his legs...no it doesnt stop with 2 or 4...it stops when there is no where else to reasonably fill in. I am firm on not seeing him cover his arms (altho it ultimately is his choice, not mine)....but I like the fact that he can enjoy his love of ink and yet blend with those who hate it...haha I get a kick out of the surprised expression on their faces...

If I wear a dress shirt nothing shows. But I am a sailor so my arms show. But for the most part if I meet some one that doesn't like me because of my art, then I am not going to waste my time with them, that being said I have yet to run into that sentiment. Tattoos are extremely common these days.
