Snow on the way here

We have been in the 40-45 degree daytime temps., with lows in the 20s and teens.
Current forecast is 1 foot of snow Sunday with low in the 20s and high below freezing.
I'm excited, because I won't have to go do a 12 hour shift in a snow plow like I did for the past 28 years!

A couple of weeks ago when I-95 was blocked by snow, we only got 2-3" here.

I know the feeling Virginian! So nice to sit in front of the woodstove and look out the window not giving a crap! Number for accumulation are all over the place. NWS still hasn't released a number. All the other media is up to typical fear mongering.

Off topic, but what do plow drivers do in the summer?

I was a VDOT highway construction inspector, but we were required to maintain a CDL and man a snow plow when needed, which in my case was every time it snowed.
Most of them are manned by the same maintenance workers that repair potholes, mow the roadsides, etc.

Currently living in ours for about 2 months while doing some renovations. We have had a little bit of everything rain , snow, a little warm temps and a lot of cold. Space heater helps a bunch . Had put up styrofoam around the base to block wind and so far so good . The main issue we have is everything has to come off to be able to move so we can dump.
End of week 2 and so far so good although we do run the heat a little in the morning.
As always Happy Camping no matter the date !!

We have a guy in our area that owns a few different businesses that has a contract with the city to plow the roads and quite a few parking lots around town.

One of his summer businesses is a blacktopping company. So he paves them in the summer and plows them in the winter.

He owns a car lot and a whole bunch of rental properties too, so that's money year-round. The man really has more money that he knows what to do with.

So if he sets the plow too low he gets paid twice.

That makes sense, since you can't do road maintenance in winter. (We don't have that problem in Florida but don't seem to get more road maintenance done.)

Now, back to the cold weather ...

We live 50 miles NW of the Twin Cities in MN, and you keep sending that stuff our way! We saw an overnight low of -30, followed two days later by a high of +30.

Gotta love the North Country!

Nothing so remarkable here in NJ, only down to 2 degrees this morning, but is coldest of winter so far. House got very cool with nobody stoking the woodstove overnight.
Wife wimped out and turned on furnace this morning.

I'm in Galveston (near Texas) and it got below 40° last night but above 60° now. Forecast is for right at freezing later in the week with highs in the 50°s. All, and all nothing like last year and I've still got my fingers crossed it won't be.
