Hobbies and other interests

Okay, you all can’t be so consumed with the RV world you don’t have other interest. What are yours?

Mine are:

- Cycling < more a sickness and obsession and passion

- Straight razor shaving and collection < have about two dozen of which some are over 100 years old and still shave like new

- Minor wood working and mainly crafting handmade shaving brushes with silver tip badger hair which is the top of the line bristle choice for many

- Airgunning too. I am in to PCP platforms and enjoy target shooting

- Metal detecting as it is good exercise and sometimes you find some good things

- Oh, a fine cigar every so often as well

Really Cool! I too am a model railroader, howbeit in North East Ohio, garden railroading is not real practical with our snowfall and temps. So my HO empire resides in the basement.

RC Cars and I am learning guitar.

We have a pretty nice oval clay track here at our RV park in FL where we race twice a week.

The Guitar lessons are free by one of the full timers. We play jam sessions every two weeks.

Thats awesome. I have a couple friends with J3s.

I've been flying hang gliders for decades, using my TT to travel around meeting up with friends at different flying sites, mostly around the western US. This is over the San Juans in southwest CO.

My hobby/passion is/was competitive skeet shooting. This is what made me buy my first RV. I would shoot as many competitions along the east coast as I could afford, and paying for hotels really ate into my shooting budget. Most gun clubs with enough skeet fields to host a major competition also had an area for RVs with electrical and water hookups, so it only made sense to buy a travel trailer large enough for me and my shooting partner, and sometimes my wife, to spend anywhere from three to seven days in. It was so much more convenient to be able to just put the guns and ammo into the RV at the end of the day instead of lugging them around from the clubs to the hotels. Plus, the RV being at the club gave me a place to relax during the day between rounds without having to drive back-and-forth to the hotels — there is a lot of waiting around during a skeet tournament.

Using the RV for skeet competitions morphed it into being used for camping which eventually took priority over my hobby of competitive skeet shooting. My travel trailer turned into my wife’s resort instead of my tool. Eventually, my skeet shooting hobby fell to the wayside and camping became my/our new hobby.

That’s awesome! I have a lifelong friend that has a complete setup in his basement. Well, the smaller sized trains.

I used to have hobbies... now I have kids.

Bikes have been at the core for decades, but with kids, plus moving the the east coast (which is a desert island for cycling if you grew up riding the west) my 4 hour long training rides are gone. Now my "retro" ride is a mule for the Burly baby trailer.

Now I tinker with tractors when I can, woodturn gifts around the holidays and I bring an RC sailboat with us on our RV adventures.

In no particular order...
Playing guitar
Golf
Falconry
Fly fishing

Pretty darn good at the first 3, long way to go on the last, but really enjoy it. Planning several trips this year up into UT, CO, WY, and MT to stalk brown trout...

Just started ice boating. I wouldn't mind a little more winter.

And, whatever my daughter is in to. Good way to spend time with her before I am no longer "cool"

My long time hobbies are fly fishing, fly tying and building and racing rc boats.
Come spring the Forester gets loaded up with fly tying supplies for a month or two of fishing and tying to match the bugs.
My other passion is building rc race boats and traveling to races in Canada and the big National events in the U.S.
This is my latest gas hydro I’m just finishing.Click image for larger version
