How Cold is it??

6 deg F this AM. That's pretty cold for Kentucky.
My house was popping all night long as the bricks and
lumber contracted.
We have mostly clear roads with a couple inches of snow
in the grass.
The birds are positively frantic around my feeders when
it's like this.

I wanna go South (but my wife won't let me )

Well, we always got a spot for you down here! Of course it's cold here too. Got down to the mid 30's last night, and the next couple of days it's supposed to be in the low to mid 70's. Positively chilling!

Hey Jim, go to the top of the page look for
quick links
then drop down to
edit your details
then in the bottom of the page put in your location.
That should make it show next to your ID on the left
side of the page when you post.

We'd like to know where it was minus 15 this morning

It is about -12c here this morning but with the wind chill calculated it feels more like -22 (10.4f and -7.6f). Not too bad here but about 80km south of here there are about 300 vehicles that have been stranded overnight on hwy 402 between Strathroy and Sarnia/Port Huron which is a major connecing link to I-75. A lot of people use it to get to destinations in the southern U.S. so they can avoid the congestion at Detroit. The military is trying to get in by helicopter to help but visibility is so low and the wind so high they are having a tough time of it. Most of the rescues so far have been one at a time by the police and private citizens. You can find out more by checking out the CBC news site on the internet, I don't have that link as I am watching it live on t.v. but someone may post it here. Old Guys

Its too cold in Bracey Va. I am headed out christmas day to Va beach (120miles) to have christmas with all kids and grandkids on the 26th then 27th headed to South carolina to visit mother for a week then continue to niceville Fla for the next 3 weeks Hope it warms up in one of those places. I guess I get to try my tank heaters and my insulation and heat tape on my water hose.

Well here in LA (Lower Alabama) it has been down to 19. Bill make sure you check your connection to the faucet and your trailer that is where I was having problems with mine. It is parked on the hunting lease.

Thats great I tried to find that heat tape here and everyone thought I was crazy. I just disconnected everything and turned the water off at the main vale. Again this is a hunting camp so an ounce of prevention LOL. The brass at each end was where it really got super cold. Good Luck

25 this morning at Myrtle Beach. About 4 degrees colder inland. Planning on 17 tomorrow am. Turned a bucket over the water faucet and added a light bulb...so good so far.

I heard the Minneapolis got hit good and hard. Here in South Dakota we only got about 8 inches of that snow. The city cleaned up yet?

The inner city is still struggling a bit. The problem for them is always that there isn't any place to put the snow. A lot of it needs to be trucked out. Now the MNDOT is busy with rotary blowers cleaning off turn lanes and bridges; blowing the snow into trucks and hauling it away. I'm always amazed at how well MN handles snow. The airport too! Very well done.

6 deg F again today.
Possible freezing rain/snow late Wednesday night.
I'd rather have 6" of snow than 1/4" of freezing rain!!!

Oh my!!! If it doesn't warm up soon you might as well join Canada. At least you would have free health care to treat frostbite. Just kidding but on a serious note, if you are not used to the cold or to freezing rain please be careful and drive defensivly as well. Old Guys.
