How Low can the dollar go...

Canadian dollar is worth .78 cents US today. Travel plans may be north of 49 for this summer. Hope it rebounds prior to Goshen.

Will save the difference in fuel costs, must admit though I was just thinking it would be nice if Goshen registration gets posted soon before we are paying double.

We're already committed to 3 weeks in Florida in a few weeks and a trip to Chicagoland at the end of August, but I view it the same way DDC does... since the cause of the lower dollar is the collapse of oil prices, the reduced diesel fuel cost will go a long way to offset the $$$ exchange.

Looks like the Trend is still going the wrong way if traveling out of the country. $1.25 US vs the Loon. Just gut it up and go. We have a May trip to St Maartin planned, but at least it isn't the Grand Caymans.

Presently the loonie at .80 USD, would have to do alot of math to see if worthwhile other than to stay in the local area. Different if doing the snowbird thing and going to the deep south for the winter to soak up the sun. Today filled up/topped up my F150 for .96/L Cdn which is golden compared to 1.35/L before this oil thing started. I was realy hoping the gas prices would stay low for camping season.

Went to COSTCO, everything else is three cents more a litre. I don't get why in the morning it is 1.06 and after lunch it is 96 to 99 and it is every station, not like they called each other and said "OK jack it up".

What kills me is that they are playing around with pricing of fuel that is still in the under ground tanks at the station.

But yet diesel around Barrie is 1.20 / L, you telling me it costs almost .30 to refine diesel from gasoline. My sister has a 35 foot boat in Brockville and marina fuel in the summer is 25 to 30 from pump prices.....really must be jet fuel. She said it was a $1000. weekend in fuel to go up and down the St Lawrence. That is when I say I am grateful I have an F150 and not a pair of 400 hp motors.

If low dollar means Ontario can get off of the teet and be a 'have' province again, or at least pretend to be competitive in manufacturing sector, might be worth it for a while. At least a high .80 cent dollar. It will turn around when Oil does.

From what I have read you are right, I am not an economist but a lower dollar will help our trade (Canadian). Our problem is we still have to get out of the hole that Wynn (Ontario) put us in with the billion dollar gas plant issue, can't just make that disappear, at least she can't fight with Rob Ford from Toronto anymore. Now back on subject, as a high percentage of RVs are manufgactured in the USA which means the MSRP will no doubt go up with the eschange.

How Low can the dollar go...

Gas is at .87 here in Cochrane (AB) and even lower at Costco. It has been as low as .75 a few weeks ago. Diesel is about .99 per liter. Because of the Loonie diving against the U$, the dealer where I bought my RV last year has just bumped his prices upwards by about 25-30%. If fuel stays low and the loonie remains where it is I should about break even on my vacations to MT and WA in the summer. Of course, in an ideal world gas would stay low and we'd be back at par or better.
