Interesting train of thought

I'm an iOS guy, so I was looking over at Macrumors for any information about the upcoming keynote Apple's supposed to be giving today. While there, I was reading an article about Apple's ranking on the Fortune 500 that said:

Quote:
Wal-Mart once again beat out ExxonMobil for this year's #1 ranking, with Chevron and Berkshire Hathaway ranking ahead of Apple's $170.9 billion in revenue.
Of course, the first thing that comes to my mind with that is the line at the bottom of every Forest River page:

So my train of thought was running to "FR's bigger than Apple!"

Anybody else have any Monday morning, pre-coffee, runaway trains of thought they'd want to share?

Yeah, I'm hoping beyond hope that Apple announces/releases the iPhone 6 with a bigger screen today. I'd pre-order as quickly as possible. I need to upgrade my 4.

I have a 5s and I'm not upgrading. Perfectly happy with the one-hand operation that makes it convenient when I can't have both hands free. Anything bigger and it gets a little tough to do.

Now from a 4 to a 6...I might do that because the processor is going to be so much better. That is if you are under contract and you are not looking to put much cashola out for it. If out of contract, you have other options like a new price-dropped 5s when the 6's hit. I paid outright for my 5s and have no contract. Been no-contract for the past 7 years and loving it.

Sad day.

But, I'm excited about the new Swift programming language. I may have to dust off my machine rental and try my hand at app development again. Their old language was the pits.

Apple is not just a company. It's a religion. Seriously, You say anything bad about Apple, and the zealots will be all over you in an earnest, but misguided attempt to correct your defective thinking.

Wait a sec...you can't be an Apple developer and still be on an iPhone 4. I thought they had an "Early adopters only" requirement.

The irony is- for a developer, I hate gadgets. I find them to be a necessary evil.

The 4S just didn't offer enough improvements to upgrade for a 1/2 model update. When the 5 came along, I couldn't swing it financially. I can now, but I really want to hold out for the 6.

But, I'm a web developer- not an Apple developer. I have done exactly 2 prototypes for iOS apps. One just to prove to myself that I could build something and the other I worked with another guy to put together an iPad app that also worked on his Android devices.

Same here, most "smart" phones are over priced is over but Apple tends to over do it as does Samsung.

Well, not as techie as I used to be even though I do some administration.
I can't say I'm a big fan of any of particular OS except the one I get practically free whenever I renew my contract. I have an S5 right now that my wife picked for me as birthday present and it is really awesome compared to the RAZR we traded in. I have really never been a big fan of Apple since I started in MS-DOS (5.0) and enjoyed being able to manually configure the system.

Now I'm just waiting for SkyNet or some other machine overlord to tell me what to get next.

I think with all operating systems, it what you get comfortable using. I was quite comfortable with Blackberry back in the day, but when they didn't support MS office in a 64bit platform, I switched to iOS. My wife and kids all have iPhones, iPads, & macs, so with all of having same platform it's easy to transfer data. I have 3 android tablets, that I've tried using, but just use them for games and movies when I travel now.

I've found it seems to be whatever you happened to pick up first is what you've stuck with. I first got an iPod touch, so when shopping to replace my blackberry I went iPhone. Not so much for the product as it was because I've spent money on apps on the iOS platform and I didn't want to have to buy those apps again on Android. Same reason I went with an iPad.

On the flipside, when the wife first got a smartphone phone she went with an android. 5 phones and a tablet later, everything she's done is on Android since she doesn't want repurchase apps on the a different platform.

Though, I'll admit- I cheated. Chrome has a "Search Google for this image..." feature.
