I've got a laundry chute...

The chute is located so that the dirty stuff can be dropped from the bathroom into some kind of a basket in the basement of the 5er. I know where this will go with my DW, as to her imagination of what is wrong when she spy's a bug inside the unit. My opening a basement door will require some netting type curtain to prevent this. Lots of drama in my future.

While it is a nice innovation for those needing to move their funk, I am going to have to close it off prior to the DW knowing about it's existence. She already thinks that opening the roof vents give bugs access. I know, I know it has the same screen as what is on the door.

My plan is to cure the it without her ever knowing about it. Am I a bad guy for this and if I hit the lottery, should I hide that from her? I'm going to burn here or in hades...

We have a laundry chute too, but it's next to the bed with a lid on it. I've never worried about bugs, but I won't ever use it. It's a great selling point, but totally useless because we need to store tools and other things in the area you would put a laundry basket. The clothes would be filthy.

I attached 4 plastic hooks under shoot and hang a laundry bag. when doing that I didn't think the hooks would stick but its been over a year and they have. It does get in the way of access some things in the basement as it fills up but I learned to live with it. I have thought of the bugs getting in and was going to frame out a lid for it with some window screening but haven't done that yet.

Us,too. Just put a piece of plywood over it. Didn't even have to fasten it down. We have a collapsible hamper that fits just fine in the shower. Jeez. Whoever came up with that stupid idea?!?

The only thing a laundry chute is good for, IMHO, is letting hot air (or cold air, depending) into the camper from the storage area underneath. Blocked ours off the day we got it with a piece of cardboard, and upgraded that to some blue foam insulation later. I can remove the foam if I change my mind. (Been 9 years, not likely)

The air conditioner could not keep the bedroom area cool. Opened the wardrobe and thought I'd put my head in an oven. Blocked it off with the cardboard and things cooled off nicely. Even in July.

We store boot, shoes and stuff in there now.

Drop a piece of plywood over that hole. If Wife insists on having the chute, then put a handle on the plywood so she can open it when needed and keeps the air conditioning in check when you don't.
