Glad Doug got himself to a medical facility so he could get a proper diagnosis and treatment.

LOL. So the kicker is I haven’t dealt with the kind of pain I am seeing described here (yet?!).
And, even better- the pain seems to have subsided. I guess that’s the whole moving thing. I hate to imagine if the next step is peeing out a rock.
The urgent care did see blood in the urine in their test.
Registered at the ER. They did a repeat of urine, will do blood, and a CT scan.
Fun times.

Doug, Good Luck and let us know how everything went. Glad you went to get checked out.
I had Gall Stones a couple of years ago that almost burst (my Gall Bladder) not fun either. They removed it............ all is better now but after two years not 100% normal.
Good Luck.

I'm glad you went in. Just in case it's something that your not going to pass on your own or in case it's not a kidney stone at all. This way you'll be sure to live another day and camp onwards!

CT scan will provide your answers. Back in the Spring I woke up in agony and thought I might have had kidney stones. CT showed diverticulitis. A couple weeks it came back with a vengeance that nearly killed me with perforations in my colon and abscess. 8 days in hospital, first time ever admitted to a hospital.
They took the affected colon out 5 days ago, recovering. Today was my first day home. Not trying to scare you, but emphasizing the importance of CT scan diagnosis.

It’s definitely a kidney stone - a little more than halfway between my kidney and bladder. They say it’s 4mm in size. I’m being discharged with a few meds.
Sounds like the next but is going to continue sucking and the actual passing sounds terrible.

4mm! That's almost as large as some of my target bullets[emoji15]
As long as you have pain meds you should be good when it passes.
Don't forget to post pics of it when it shows.
Drill a hole in it and you can wear it around your neck.
Sorry for the levity but laughing can disguise your crying around your friends.

Have had 3 attacks. 1st ended in trip to ER at 5AM. Have heard from others about stones being more painful than child-birth.
Luckily my 1st attack left me with a couple pills that are almost impossible to obtain any more. I guard the last one I have as I would a big Diamond as they do work.
The hoy shower is new info. Hopefully I will never have to try that but if I do I can only hope I remember the idea.
Thanks.

I had one about 10 years. They gave me some pain meds, then discharged me and gave me a funnel with a filter in the bottom and told me to pee through it. It was supposed to catch the stone. I pee'd through it for a week and never saw anything.
They told me I've got several more waiting to move. Not looking forward to it.

So....? How did the night go?
Did you sleep at all?
Did you release the stone?
Are you writhing in pain on the floor someplace while leaking urine onto yourself and yelling profanities in many tongues?

I had a friend and fellow Firefighter who had kidney stones. He would end up in the hospital and would pass them. When we were working at the firehall and end up in the john at the same time he would say to me, while standing at the urinals, "listen for the tinkle, tinkle now". Just a bit of firehall humour. I know what gall stones feel like, had that out and I know what appendicitis feels like, had that out and I have the scars to prove it. Do the safe thing man and take care of the wee one. Lots of fluids for sure.

Glad to hear it's only a kidney stone and not something more serious.
A note of caution here.... if it doesn't pass and gets stuck in the bladder, you're at risk for a bladder infection and inability to empty the bladder. (Happened to my spouse and they had to use a laser to break it up.) So if it doesn't get better soon.... get to a urologist.

Doug, we can be pain brothers! Woke up this morning with a horrible burning sensation in lower abs, then my lower back started to spasm. Leaning against front door looking out at the fresh snow covering everything thinking how beautiful it was, then stumbled around whimpering pathetically hoping my guts didn't come apart until a Percocet kicked in.

EPENDYDAD, I'm praying for you and wishing you a speedy recovery.

I assume it passed to my bladder last night at about 11pm or so. All pain left me. I slept amazingly. Woke up with a brutal headache - not super uncommon for me but also not sure if it’s a reaction to the meds.
So I guess it’s in the bladder and I’m now waiting for the storm of moving out of there and down the slip n slide.

Kidney to bladder is where the muscle spasms (and therefore, pain) occur. Once in the bladder, exit is fairly uneventful - at least in all my cases.

Not to scare anybody, I had the same type of pain a year ago. Went in to the E.R. After waiting awhile the pain left. Decided to be checked anyway. Turned out to be a couple of tumors on my left kidney. Had my kidney removed. If I wouldn't have gone in who knows what would have happened. So far so good.
