Not on the Bucket List but...

It wasn’t on my bucket list but man, our trip on the world’s fastest train in Shanghai was awesome. I was actually in China for the purpose of checking off the Great Wall and Forbidden City from my bucket list. The last few days of our tour were in Shanghai and our tour guide changed our itinerary to include a round trip ride on the Maglev train.

It was a short ride from the outskirts of Pudong to Shanghai Pudong International Airport a distance of 18.6 miles. We hit and maintained a top speed of 431 Km/h (267 mph). It was an awesome ride. My little pea brain has trouble comprehending a magnetic field capable of levitating a train and then propelling it at such high speed.

If you ever find yourself in Shanghai definitely take this train ride.

My Grandfather lived in Shanghai In 42 and 43 during the war. Pootung #492 was a Japanese Concentration camp back then, it is now a shopping mall.
Nice to know things are much different than they were 75 years ago.
I look forward to the day I get over there and ride the maglev train.

I'm jealous, I'd love to take a ride on that thing!

Some people have a hard life....

Grandfather always said "work hard and save your money".... I failed half of that.

I find it amusing to think about all the people who complain about "China made junk" then someone gets on a Chinese train and goes 267 MPH.

I have top agree that the MagLev is a neat train to ride on. I did it at the recommendation of a sales engineer I was working with while in Shanghai doing work at the world's largest WWTP, Bailonggang. Security screening for the train was almost like an airport.

Now that I've been on the Great Wall and seen the Forbidden City I only have one more thing left on my bucket list. I have yet to visit Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks and I plan to check those off next year.

Been there, did that. Also have ridden all the fast trains in Europe. Wasn't on my bucket list but great cocktail conversation.

But the Chinese train is in China where it could injure or kill important Chinese people. China Junk is used by the unimportant or sent to USA.

The MAGLEV is German built. Very expensive. Only China could afford it.
