OC's pinbox and ladder satellite mount

OC made the mounts for our satellite dish (Winegard) and DH made the base plate and mounting pole for the mounts. Our base plate came with the tripod adapter. DH used the existing baseplate and came up with THIS:

(which can also be used with the ladder mount...aka LH thingamajig)

While DH doesn't weld, he designed the pole and plate adapter, then had a friend weld it up for him.

The absolute genius of the pin box mount is that it is held in place (initially) by gravity alone. OC you done GOOD!

Of course we'll bungee cord it in place.

Actually the welding was done by a business buddy of DH's. Guy dropped by his office this morning, DH drew up what he wanted and said no hurry....guy said he'd have it at least by next week.

TWO hours later he dropped the finished product off at DH's office.

Adapting our existing base plate the way he did means we can still use that base plate with the tripod legs if we choose.

YEP, welding is an art...an art that would scare the beejeepers out of me. I've a brother who built water tanks for years (those huge ones up in the sky for city water) and after his second trip and fall, saved by the safety harness, he gave it up for something healthier.

I have the same baseplate for my Shawdirect carry out. I never camp without trees so a mount is not something I could generally use. Maybe in Goshen I could use it and double lock to prevent thieves from taking it, totally useless for Direct TV or Dish but they wouldn't know that.

Now, you'd BEST start braggin' on Sneak's design for that base plate adapter! He was disappointed you weren't on line when I posted these pics.

He said as he was headed back to work that he has another design in mind to make it lockable to the mount/pin box/ladder.

His mind (and his "other mind") tortured that adapter mount design for a couple of days....this...no, this is better....no, back to the original....no, a whole new design. Of course each idea was discussed at length with me as my brain went immediately into neutral and I just repeatedly muttered: yeah, that's good....I agree, that design is better....yeah, honey I agree....well, I think your opinion matters most.

YES, OC is building a slider rack for Buffy.

And YES, plans are in place for Sneak and OC, Weezer and TOWTA to meet real time in late August.

THAT is some nice work!

We have not invested in a Satellite dish yet, but will in a year or two when we retire and start heading out west.

This is a REALLY nice setup -- we are planing on some OC & TOWTA time later this year and this may make the RV Bucket list!

I *think* I posted a picture of the ladder mount *somewhere* on this forum.

Pure genius in OC's design of that as well.

The pinbox mount will be used a LOT since our 2 favorite local RV parks and sites have us facing EXACTLY the way we'll need for the dish to face with that mount.

Nope, can't find the pic of the ladder mount....OC must have posted those.

I'll take a pic of BOTH mounts with Sneak's adapter this evening, with them and the dish mounted on Buffy. (he was just home on lunch break when the pics here were taken)

I may have to copy the extended tube for mine so I can raise it up higher and maybe use my flag holder at the same time. Good idea Sneaky!

Oh I'm sure he'd be proud to have you use some of his design.

Yes, he mentioned that with the longer post it's adjustable re height.

As stated, he was just home on lunch break when those pics were taken. I'm sure he'll do the complete set up for each mounts (with the dish on them) and post pictures soon, if not this evening then tomorrow evening.

(weather looks like it might get wet this evening)

Looks great, and you can also mount it clear up on the top of the ladder where it turns 90°, altho' I would use a hose clamp to secure it from moving.
