That being said, I know nothing about vBulletin but it seems to me there are a couple of fields to test when a reply to a post is made. Right now the code checks the user name to bump their number of posts. Also, every post gets a post number. The OP gets #1. It seems the code could test the username or set a flag to the OP username so that when that user posts a new response to the same thread then their name could be italicized for instance.

I also know messing with code can be problematic so it may not be worth messing with. Thx for your response..

I think it's a great idea. In fact, I just had to go back to page 1 to see if you were the OP on this one. I wanted to quote one of your posts.

This is mostly a display issue when the thread is being shown to users. I would think it would be possible to change the bar around the post (where it says the time on the left and post # on the right).

I'm not sure how something could be adapted to the app. That's its own ball of wax.

It'll require a coding change by the Site Administrators/Social Knowledge that run the site. As I said- I think it definitely have value.

Is this being given any consideration by the site administrators?

I know it is being discussed.
Give it some time.

Looks like this fell through the cracks as other matters & issues came up.

What would the benefit be other than knowing a particular member was the OP? As some threads tend to keep going the op original comments are often no longer in play.

i'm always interested to see if the OP had his/her question answered. As you say, sometimes these threads go on and on. I find myself going back to page 1 to see who the OP was. It is really no big deal but would alert everyone that the OP'er has replied to their post.

As you know a lot of threads are hijacked and after a while I am not sure who was the OP. Some hijackers just take over the thread.

As I said, no big deal but it would, in MHO, make this forum unique in that you could always tell when the OP is responding....
