Ouch!
Ok I was being stupid!
I was showing my son how I could flip the BBQ flipper and catch it by the handle.
Then I decided to show off and try 2 revolutions in 'the flip'. Well instead I caught the edge of the 'blade'.
I am now at urgent care waiting for stitches.

Actually he was kind of grossed out.
There was lots of blood and it went down to the bone.
I am fine just feeling stupid
Annoyed with myself cuz now I am wasting the afternoon sitting in waiting rooms when it is bright and sunny out. .

A few years back, I was in the ER with my grandmother. In the curtain room next door was a guy who somehow grabbed the end of a running hedger trimmer. We lost count of the number of doctors who laughed at him for it and those who came in simply to see the wound for the sake of seeing it.
He was a one-man show.

BBQ Flipper
If your BBQ flipper can cut you to the bone, time for a different flipper. Hope you get back to camping soon.

That's too bad. It must have been one hell of a sharp BBQ Tool Of Death. My flippers are relatively benign. Good luck and heal up soon. BTW, don't try chain saw juggling.

OK my son is 13 - he was going to try next.
The flipper is not sharp at all really. I think it was just the speed of the rotations and the fact the edge caught me at the right angle (no mason pun intended).

Some pics. I almost blew chow. I never did subscribe to the adage.."Without pics it didn't happen". Trust me, I believed you all along.

Speakin of chainsaws...
Was in ER once (was on first name basis...raised three sons...country boys) and the guy in the curtain room next to us let a chain saw buck back on his thigh

Being a carpenter i have seen some ugly wounds over the years.
One a guy reached under a sheet of plywood to feel if the blade was deep enuf. Only problem was as he touched the blade he pulled the trigger. Yep it was deep enuf to cut 3/4 of the way thru two fingers.
Another guy was using a power saw cutting a soffit board over his head and he lost control of the saw and it ran down his back, taking several big chucks out.
Last one, my dad lost three and a half fingers off his right hand in a punch press.

Awesome pics. Good switch job. Gonna hurt some later. Lidocaine shot hurt?
It's merely a flesh wound to quote Monte Python

Actually the Lidocaine hurt some mostly on the palm end of the cut.
What hurt way more was the stitching.
My body for some reason does not 'freeze' quickly. After two full syringes full of lidocaine I could still feel a fair amount, much to the surprize of the Dr.
The doc couldn't put in any more freezing as all lidocaine already in was swelling the area of the cut so much as to making it difficult to stitch the cut cleanly and neatly.
About an hour after I left the ER the area and half of my hand was completely numb.
