Possible awning improvement

After covering the ends of the awning to keep water out and seeing it still got water in the rolled awning, a couple of months ago I decided to try something different. I put a bead of Permatex Clear RTV Silicone Adhesive Sealant the complete length of the seam. Not having had much rain here in Concord for the last 2 months other than sprinkles, I could not determine if it did anything. Last night, we had a real gully washer and I put the awning out this morning and it was dry. I hope it rains some more to see if it does work, but it does look promising.
