Be careful with Sirius billing. If they have your credit card number they will charge it the full retail price and you won’t know about it until you get your bill. I argue with them every six months before they finally agree to accepting a check.

Yes at first they put you on auto billing but you have to go in and shut it off so you can pay in the range that you want. We have it on our dodge nitro. Being we don’t travel much in the winter it’s better to let it expire then take a come back special for 6 months in the spring or summer

I got an email saying they were about to renew it and charge my card for a total of $228.53.

I called them and got it for $107.72.

I wouldn't have gotten it all except DW likes it.

With the same programming? How did you do that if I may ask, the 228.00 is my bill also, and I don't listen to them all, and also my wife's loves it, mostly the comedy stations. I'm not sure but I think I pay for my RV and her car, two different bills, it is expensive. You can tell I don't pay the bills.

Call and threaten to cancel.
I've been able to get ours (each car) down to $75 per year for the past 4-5 years. You may have to escalate up through several representatives but they WILL lessen the charge if you pay for a full year in advance.

They asked me what channels we listened to. I told them them the 5-6 ones we listen to most often, and said we don't listen to any of the sports crap or other stuff.

Near as I can tell, I'm getting the same channels, but as I say, we never listen to most of them. DW is happy, for about $10/month, which is the important thing. I did have to pay for the whole year, but that didn't bother me.

Verizon does the same thing. We had a notice of price increase, went down to the office and complained and got a lower price.

They count on most people just letting the price increase ride.

They probably gave you a reduced package, but as long as it covers the stations you listen to, hey, that’s all that’s needed.

Witch Doctor, I think you said you have the wife and yours are on separate bills? If you combine them, there’s a multi radio discount. Knocks the second one down a bit.

Well, that's possible, but I know with Verizon, I'm getting everything I used to.

Holy crap I pay 25.00 a month for the truck and phone app and my bill just increased 2 months ago from 22.00. I have an upgraded package to include sports and NASCAR channels. My 6 month introductory promo ran out years ago. They called me with a $15 a month offer plus $4 for the app.

We have renewed every 5-6 months since Sept 2012 at the cost of $25 for those 5-6 months each time....comes to $30ish total with taxes for 5-6 months not per month

U have to call to cancel before it expires but they have ALWAYS given us that rate - they try to sell it at a higher rate but I always say nope if you cannot renew at the $25 rate I will cancel

I DO NOT give my credit card on file either....only authorize for the one-time use that day/call

Never had a problem with this way

I just got a nice deal on my Sirius/XM subscription. I had a plan called Sirius Basic which was only $5.99 per month for a few years, but they by mistake cancelled my plan 6 months ago and no longer offer that plan. So 6 months ago, they gave me a free 6 month promo of their regular $14.99 per month plan. A few weeks ago it was running out so I called to cancel and of course they tried to give me a deal, but I told them if I couldn't get the basic plan I used to have I didn't want it. Long story short, they gave me the standard plan at their basic price for $7.00 per month for a year with the exception that they have to charge the $7 to my card each month instead of paying for the year at once. Apparently, their basic plan which isn't advertised can only be done on monthly billing. Good deal for me though since I'm getting the standard $14.95 plan for $7

Being willing to cancel is the key

I plugged it in to get the radio ID and voila it still works. Used it all last camping season. Someone told me when they send the kill signal for a radio, it is only in the stream for a specified time then they take it out. Makes sense or else they would run out if bandwidth. Guess I just waited them out
I’ll have to try this unplug the radio before we cancel for the camping season and see what happens. Can’t really do that with a car radio but the portable one for the camper and tv it’s worth a shot

I get those constantly as well. Once or twice I've even had them offer 6 months for $25.

I've debated about taking them up on the offer in May since that conicides perfectly with our camping season. The radio antenna on my car is broken. It works fine around town but once I head down to our CG I start losing signal after I get about 30 miles or so out of town.

Then I'd just cancel it after the 6 months is up and repeat the process next year.
