We're originally from Missouri and we call it "Pop". Soda is what you put in biscuits & cakes.

Same thing in north Louisiana, and has been my whole life. Of course we have the Biedenharn family that lives here, which may have a lot to do with it.
The Biedenharns were the first bottlers of Coke and the primary financers behind Delta Airlines, which started here too.

We call it a grinder, and drink a cabinet with it.

Didn't know there was anything else on the market except Pepsi. It's either Pepsi or water at restaurants/fast food places, the other dark colored stuff is out of the question.

RI is small, and in the parts of the state call a milkshake a cabinet. But if you're still thirsty, you can get a drink from the bubbler.

I think a coke is a pop/soda.
The younger generation thinks a coke is something to get buzzed on?

Ok I am originally from Northern Alberta, over there we say pop as our soft drink, sub as submarine sandwich, we love our ginger ale. DW is from Southern California, she says soda, sub and ginger ale. We're in Central California now

I think Vernors is very regional, but I say Vernors whenever I mean ginger ale.

We're from Michigan and drink "pop". Years ago when I stationed in Illinois, everyone called it "soda".
Elind....I can remember going to the Vernors factory for Boston Coolers...long time ago!

Another Minnesota for Pop. But there is also the rather large crowd (usually women) that views having a Diet Coke as a religious sacrament and dont see any need for other choices.

I get that. Why drink all of your calories! Your answer would seem to say you are open to many types of diets. Thats very adaptable. I like it.
In this house there is only one true faith and that is Diet Coke. All the others are heresy.
I remember when I first stumbled on that in a restaurant with her and then came to realize it wasnt just her...but her family...friends...people I worked with...all over the place! Give me Diet Coke or give me nothing else is their motto.
