Some of my best photos.

People say I am a good photographer, but I just think of my self as a guy who snaps pictures with a good camera. But every now and then, I get a really good one. Here's some of my best

Somewhere in LA. I cant remember the exact location.

Santa Cruz pier, early morning just after the sun came up.

My brother and his wife on the Pacific Coast Highway. This photo was a fluke. He told his wife to get their camera out to take a picture of me, and as a joke I took my little snapshot camera out and without even looking at them, snapped this pic. It came out so perfectly framed, that I probably would have ruined it if I had actually tried to take a good shot

Some more...

Fontanna Dam, Tennessee

Cable Mill, Cade's Cove, Smokey Mountain Natl Park

Quite possibly the best photo I ever have taken. Its on the Cherohala Skyway in Tennessee. I have this one framed, hanging on the wall in my office. This photo speaks to me. Every time I look at it I yearn to get on the scooter and head back there.

Yeah. Traffic was sparse, and he was in front of me on the ride, so pulled out on a long straight stretch so he could fall back even with me in order for his wife to take my picture. You can see she has her camera in her hand

Her shot of me didnt come out well. Real blurry and all that.

Your favorite is mine too. I think it's that curving guard rail. Excellent prospective

Tim,
Nice pictures. You have a gift.

Can I ask what camera and lens you are using?

My 'good' camera is a Canon 40d with a variety of lenses. Not the most technologically advanced unit these days, but a good, solid camera. My favorite lens right now is my Sigma EX 70-200 F2.8. That puppy is such a light magnet, I can shoot razor sharp images at night under the lights at my local high school football games without a flash. Even at 1/500 shutter speed, I still have to neck the exposure down a stop from what the on-board light meter says.

Some of those photos were on my 'snapshot' camera, a Canon Powershot SD1200, which does a surprisingly good job on full automatic most of the time. I have a pair of GoPro Hero's for movie work.

Wonderful shots, Tim.
You've certainly got an eye for framing your pictures.

Thanks Tim. That's one nice setup you have there. We have been looking around for a really good camera and a used Canon 40D or a new 60D are two of the finalists. They both seem to be great camera for wildlife and sports photography from what I have read and the people we have spoken with. The Nikon D300 is also in the running. Choices, choices ...

I'd get a cheaper camera with good lenses any day of the week over a more expensive camera and cheaper glass.

Good reminder. Like most things, there's a bigger bang for the buck. I've heard that before about lenses over camera body.
