Well I learned that the National Park Service have their own criminal investigative branch. Never had an idea.

There is a riveting 4 part documentary on Hulu called "Wild Crime". It is about the 2012 case of a spousal murder in Rocky Mountain National Park and how the parks Investigative Service Branch helped catch him. If you watch the documentary you will be impressed by Beth Schott, the ISB agent who doggedly pursued this.

Recently on a bright sunny day after bringing the motor home out of storage and to the house to get ready for a trip, I couldn't get the fridge to start on shore power or propane. After a few minutes of fiddling around slight panic started to set in thinking this trip was doomed. Then I realized that turning the battery disconnect switch back on works wonders. I'm not new to RV's but sometimes the simplest things are the easiest to forget.

I may have known this before and forgot but thanks to Facebook I learned (or re-learned) a new fact today.

So I essentially had 4 grandmas and 3 grandpas when I was born. Long story that involves some divorces/re-marriages and an adoption.

Anyway, I learned today that 2 of my grandmas (who both passed away many years ago) shared the same birthday. Which is today.

Coincidentally, they were my paternal grandpa's first wife and last wife.

Today I Learned...

Today I learned that the water heater bypass valve just sorta slows the flow. I winterized my system twice this week. I’m glad I checked the hot water tank.

13,000 maybe. Tallest in the world like 29,000+ I think ?

I think the one in Hawaii is the one they truck bicycles to the top and you ride them down. Never have to pedal. Coast all the way.

13,000 is just the part that sticks out of the ocean.

Haleakalā, on Maui, is the one you ride bicycles down. It's an extinct volcano and not the tallest or highest.

A friend in Hawaii says they are getting a lot of rain at lower elevations and the web cams at the observatories are iced up.

Mauna Kea is extinct. However, it's neighbor Mauna Loa is quite active. Both volcanos are over 13,000 ft. They are both having blizzard conditions. They have ice and snow every year.

Some of us find that the best part is riding up. That's what you need to do if you want to ride down from the top, the tour companies are not allowed to drop people off in the national park.

They average about one death a year from someone running off one of the switch backs at the top.

Today I learned that one of my favorite movies (Planes, Trains, and Automobiles) was originally nearly 3 1/2 hours long. It was cut down to two hours, then another 30 minutes from that. So there is more deleted footage from this film than there is present in the final release. Problem is, we don't know if either of the original two director cuts still exist, with all these deletions.

This youtuber reads the original movie scripts and then can see what is missing from the final film. It was interesting to learn what has been cut from the film.....like Neils (Steve Martin) wife's thinking he is having an affair....Del (John Candy) having a black eye cause Neil socked him in the face after they actually drove past Chicago (once you see this black eye, you can't unsee it and wonder how you missed it).....and them getting robbed in the hotel by the pizza delivery boy cause Del tipped him a dollar in pennies.

That doesn’t sound like it’s working right…

I’m pretty sure you’re right that it’s not working right. I may not have closed the valves all the way. Or maybe one needs replacing. It’s winterized for the last time this year so out of sight out of mind until next year I suppose.

Today I learned (thanks to my son) that the actor who played Rusty in the movie "Christmas Vacation" grew up to play Leonard in The Big Bang Theory.

I'm probably the only one on this forum who didn't know that. Lol

Also David on Roseanne. I thought everyone knew that.

I learned the other day that the actor that played Uncle Lewis was the voice for Dr. Finkelstein in "The Nightmare Before Christmas".

And his wife Aunt Bethany did the voice for Betty Boop.
