Kinda hard to break down a 30' corn head when you're only going a mile or two from one field to the other. If you can't see a combine with a 30 header on it, you don't need to be on the road. NC laws are not weird, most are just common sense.

Makes a lot of Sense, agreed. At least have lights and flashing bacons. Here all large combines and plows have lights at the end of the head or edge od the plow to move overside on the road. The family farmer scrapping buy with a old massey harris disc has nothing to be able to see. I travel back roads every day and see farm equipment on them.

To just "Break Down" the JD Tractor that the OP Posted to "ONLY" take up "His Half of the Road" would require Splitting the rear end and removing the Axles also! Without the Duals the Axles stick out beyond the "My Half of the Road"! You would Play Hell taking apart that "Fold up Disk" pictured also,to transport from "Field to Field"! We all need to "Walk in their Shoes,before we Drive down the Roads"! Youroo!!

Looking at the original pic again, I now notice how close the drivers of both these are lucky not to be residents of the cemetery in front of the pickup. Also the other thing I have an arrow pointing to, is that possibly the tire from the tractor? If so, all I can say is

i am very shocked at the negative comments here about farmers, hope they were just joking sarcastic comments. I grew up in a farming family and still live on part of the land that my brother now operates (4th generation running the farm). Farmers are some of the hardest working people you will ever meet and they typically get paid crap money for the products they produce that ALL of us need.

So for those with the negative "get out of my way" comments, stop and think for a second, they are working day and night to help feed you, a few minutes of slowing down till its save to pass wont kill you, not slowing down could. oh and i doubt the few minutes is really going to ruin your day, and if we are just talking while hauling/driving your campers, you are on vacation while the farmer is trying to work, CHILL OUT, MOVE OVER and RELAX.

I don't know if this is a Slam or not? I have repaired/worked on Machines as Big as a House,and have built a House! I have had to Work all my life,and also surrounded myself with GOOD people! Youroo!!

Should one of these be on a 55 mph divided highway?


There was one this morning on my drive in. Despite the sign on the ramp that say no Farm Implements.

I am on side of Farmers, no issue at all with law abiding operators. But the necessary safety with lights, triangles or chase half ton with flashing lights helps avoid issues. Running them off the road is against the law and classified the same as aggressive driving. The mennonite run cattle down the road here at night with lanterns to get to pastures. They also wear reflective vests to be safe.

I have lived in farm country all my life. Most are very cautious and careful on the roads. Many will have a car/truck following with flashers on. Dawn and dusk is when the bad stuff usually happens. That is especially true in Amish country. They believe the triangle is all they need and often the required flashers are off or not working at night anyway.

My Farm friends have that very Sprayer and last week a group of "Crotch Rocket Bikers" went under it! He rides a MC so he knew what they were going to do,he just smiled about it! Youroo!!
