What kind of snake is this?
This snake found me earlier. Sad part is I been working in on the WH gas piping every evening this week(several leaks). I was cleaning up tonight and this showed up.
He is/was at least 4 ft. long and not too happy towards the end.

Hard to tell from the pic but my best guess is a copperhead. There is a water snake that has markings that are close to that also. Round eyes not dangerous, slanted eyes are dangerous.

Looks like the watersnake species common in the South. Without seeing the head he is too thin to be venomous.

I vote copperhead as well. They don't get thick like rattlesnakes or water moccasins.

Could be a rat snake or one of several types of kingsnake. This is a typical copperhead. What part of the country are you?

One reason I thought copperhead is seeing all the pine needles in the photo and copperheads love a pine forest, they blend in easy.

I'm in NE Texas-SW Arkansas. I really don't think it's a copperhead. I have killed quite a few copperheads...last year one less than 10ft from where I killed this snake. I know one thing...heart works. It got a little test when this thing rolled out.

It is not a Copperhead for the fact it's body is too thin in proportion to it's length.

Looks like a copperhead to me. Thought they could be found in your area. I find them every year here in coastal SE NC. They very often travel in pairs. When I see 1 I search nearby and often find another. I have seen them from almost black, to tan, and bright copper colored.

A head shot would help greatly, but it appears to be an Eastern Hog Nosed snake. Very friendly ( eat frogs and toads).

A kingsnake is another possibility. They are often mistaken for a copperhead.

You do mean the pupils, right? Doesn't look like any copperheads we have around here- MO/AR area.
