That's *exactly* why I set it up like that.

There were two barstools, and they were placed in front of the island sink/counter.

Nahhh, just one barstool, and it goes *right* here! It's a perfect place for a person to "visit" while the cook's doin' her magic.

The other barstool became DH's shop stool.

Thanks y'all, we think she's downright purrrrty, and we're mighty proud of 'er!

That side counter's gonna be the bar. I took the picture before I unpacked and set up all the bottles of medicinal elixir. As you can see, the Keurig coffee maker's already in place too.

Ahah! Another 8528er! We already love this thing! All the work over the last week is *so* worth it, and those pictures prove it.

Nice. Like that you have doors on the outside of the island. On the 8289 I only have doors on the stove side below the the curved facing. Does that allow access to the whole underside?

Yep. We had a V-Lite that we just traded in, and it had the island cabinet reversed, with the doors facing the fridge/oven but they were full length doors just like shown here.

With it turned this way there's more foot room under the bowed area while at the sink, and there's the aesthetics of it as well; a much better view when stepping in the door.

They sure do play around with these islands don't they?

In the V-Lite I kept that silly white trash can that comes with the RV. In this one I'm using a more decorative trash can that I sit by the island and *all* of my pots and pans fit in under there! Even a good sized gumbeaux pot.

While I'm thinkin' about it;

Along with the white plastic trash can, the white plastic silverware tray and the RVQue spatula that rusts after the first time you use it, we also got a nice sized (seriously) white plastic laundry basket.

Replaced the white trash can with a woven bamboo tall basket that I put a liner in so I don't have to hide it under the sink. Replaced the silverware tray with one made of bamboo (with matching bamboo cutting board). Replaced the RVQue thingie with our own set of BBQ tools, but I'm keeping that laundry basket.

*that* is a good freebie. May not keep it in the RV though. I'm thinking I'll stick with bamboo and find another tall basket for laundry. An excuse to go shopping for the new RV! (grin)

Can ya tell I'm still *amped* about this new year's gift we gave ourselves?

In the mean time I hit Wally World today and bought plastic bins, which were on sale. I'm organizing things for under-bed storage. That much I can do here inside where it's warm.

Awww eDad, don't be! I've seen your picture albums. You've got a big, beautiful rig yerself.

I think I've officially completed the move in today. Gorgeous weather here that woulda been perfect for a shake-down, but DH is workin' a half day.

SO many drawers and cabinets are still empty, but I made use of that under-the-bed space! (on the V-lite all the under bed area was also accessible from and was mostly outside storage bay except for two drawers at the foot of the bed)

I bought (too) many of those 19"X15"X8" deep storage bins from WalMart. Those are great for organizing things and they store nicely under the bed.

We're now officially good to geaux! Just need Spring to hurry up and get here.

The 8289 also has doors on the front of the island just like the 8528...that was part of the change midway through 2014 model year change taking away the pantry.

Our early 2014 V-Lite had the long/tall doors on the island, but the doors faced the fridge and stove. I prefer the doors facing out, since it leave more foot room while at the sink.

Pantry space concerned me a bit on the 8528, but while stocking it out this past week I found out that door to the left under the "side bar" counter is DEEP! I got everything we kept in the V-Lite pantry in there with lots of left over space, except for the dry stuff, (paper goods, ziplocks, tinfoil, etc.) which as stated elsewhere I put in overhead cabinets.

P.S. That side bar looks a tad different out there today, as I (just for kicks) unpacked all the "medicinal purpose" liquids and set 'em up.
