    Hi Barney,
    I did spend about 3 years metal detecting for gold here in Arizona. I used a Mindlad 2100 v2 which is more like a entry level detector. As far as I'm concerned they have a good detector and the newest ones are up in the $5,000 range. You can find other brands but you will have to pay about $800 for those. Ild look on Craigslist and buy a used one first at $400- $500 and see if you really like it. I would not buy new as all are over priced.
