Yes. Strut works very nice.
Installed mine 3/4 inch from rear of the door. 2 screws

Bottom of the strut 3/4 inch back from front door frame.
Top swivels down to the side of the strut when door closes. I was concerned also but works nice.
Needed only one to hold door open. Do not compress strut just install from package
