Cedar City, Ut, 3 nights, Zion, Bryce, more
Moab,UT 3 nights, Arches, Canyonland

Just my opinion but Gallup, NM is a nowhere place with not much to offer by itself. If it were me wanting to do the 4 corners and Mesa Verde I would tie down in Cortez, Co. There is a nice KOA there. You could do Mesa Verde and maybe Durango, Co.
From there back south on 160 to the Four Corners and through Monument Valley to the Grand Canyon.
Day tripping out of Gallup would make for some long days.

Hey BamaGrad, we're doing something similar: Memphis-OKC-Santa Fe-Lake Powell -Grand Canyon-Tucson-Carlsbad Caverns-El Paso-San Antonio-Dallas-Memphis.

BTW, I'm a Bama Grad too from Birmingham! Been gone from Bama though since '95 :(

I mapped this out on RVParky's Trip Planner:
Trip BamaGrad, mapped
(Note, it only works from a computer- not a phone or tablet.)

First, is there something in Amarillo, TX that you're going to visit? If not, it looks like that's pretty far south for getting you towards what seems to be your real destination of Gallup, NM. Personally, I'd look north- maybe Oklahoma City.

Then, you're looking at something like 1,375 miles in 2 days to get home after Fort Collins. I think I would be tempted to cut out Vernal, UT and give yourself an extra day of driving to get home.

Finally, you have so many great places and so little time. I struggle with the balance of seeing a lot of different places vs. seeing fewer places but deeper. It's such a tough choice- both have merits. We were in Moab, UT with 2 sight-seeing days and it wasn't nearly enough. In fact, I keep looking at my calendar and have been trying to figure out when we'll get back there. :D

Doing all that in 19 days is going to be a whirlwind.

I think I'd cut out a few things this trip and slow down a little.

I would stay at the Desert Rose in Bloomfield, NM for four corners and Mesa Verde. A little farther from Amariilo, but way closer to your sight seeing. Also stop at the Aztec Ruins, really cool. I would also stay at Bauers RV Ranch in Glendale, UT. It is located between Zion and Bryce and closer to Moab. Both of these campgrounds offer pull thru full hookups for a reasonable price. I agree with skipping Vernal this time around. We went there last summer and the NP exhibit is OK, but not worth going way out of your way to see.

Thanks everyone for the comments. One correction evident by EP's map. First stop is GladeWATER, Tx not Gladeview. (Get up the next day and drive 6-8 hours and STILL in Texas!*?!#!)

Yes it is ambitious and we may cut out RMNP. Vernal and Dinosaur is not optional (2 DS and DW insist). The advice for moving north from/aside Gallup is certainly appreciated.

Last summer we did St. Louis(Arch), KC(Amusement park), Sioux Falls, Black Hills(Custer, Badlands), Rushmore, Devils Tower, Yellowstone then booked it back to AL (stops in Dodge City, Hot Springs AR) with two fewer nights than this years trip.

DW sets the sights to see and I get to do the driving.:crying:

Just one more suggestion if I my. Of course I am a Southwesterner but never found much in Gallup besides eats and gas. You might hammer on across I-40 with maybe stops at Painted Desert maybe Meteor Crater your way to Grand Canyon. Leaving Grand Canyon going to the Four Corners and Mesa Verde. Then on to Moab and Vernal.

Thanks Blackrock. I will map that out. The DW and I visited GC and Zion/Bryce many years before kids. Looking forward to going back.
