New Cedar Creek
 
So we are ordering a new 34IK this week. So my little brain is going crazy. My truck is a new Ram 3500 CrewCab SRW. Iíve settled on a B&W companion slider. So Iím on the fence about the pin box.

Should I go ahead and order the trail air pin box or not? My wife and I will be traveling a lot hopefully. So Iím thinking I should, any advice?

If you DON'T get the Trailair Air Bag Pinbox, you will regret it later.....especially if you have a rear kitchen 5th wheel.

Yes. And if I had to do it again, I'd get the next bigger size TrailAir. I ended up having to later and it really helped when I did.

If I could do over I would get the mor/ryde. Next camper will not get the TrailAir. The air bladder doesnít hold air to good. The mor/ryde doesnít use air

Yes I'm used to that loss of air on my Class C. I have a nice bicycle pump I use to pump them up before I go. No problems with that.

But I like you idea not sure I have a choice from the factory though, I'll ask in morning.

Mine loses a little air. I know the psi to set it at, and it's no big deal to add a few pounds when needed. When I had the 18K TrailAir, it lost a lot of air because it had to be pumped up way past 100 psi. Now that I changed out to the 21K donuts, it only loses a few pounds every once in a while. 93 psi sets mine just right, but I'm pretty heavy.

I must have the 18k because itís a pain to pump up the bladder. If I check the air in the bladder the pressure drops. I have to climb in the bed of truck to pump up the bladder. The pressure drops all the way down and then I pump the bladder back up to the right height. I really canít tell the difference in how the trailer rides. The truck rides the same to me. The trailer rides the same, my curtains fell in the camper with both pin boxes. I have a B&W hitch.

I have the same truck so let's throw some more brain twister into this, how about this option instead of a slider and Trail Air.

Comfort Ride 245 Hitch, No Air to maintain and works better than any air bag system. For the turning radius issues, use a Reese 19K Sidewinder Pin Box instead. Just hitch up and go, make all the tight turns you want and no worries about chucking and pin bounce. Nothing to think about except driving. Model 245

Interesting. Appears to be a knockoff of the BD3 or BD5.

Not a knockoff, the guy that invented the BD hitches is the same guy that developed the Comfort Ride. He sold the BD in favor of his idea for the Comfort Ride to eliminate the Air Bladder maintenance and failures.

I have the 245 Comfort Ride hitch, that thing is a dream to hitch up and once moving you can't tell the trailer is behind you. Our old hitch we got slammed on a regular basis with Bridge transitions being so bad everywhere, trailer would just go up and back down on the hitch and slam the truck. No more!

No end cap on the 2019 Hathaway?
 
We are interested in the new 2019 34IK Hathaway. But it appears that all hathaways have gone to no end caps. Is this true? Or, is it still available with the full body paint option?

The end caps are only available in the Champagne Model

B&W makes good stuff.

I have their goose ball on that truck and the anderson ultimate. It is good except on washboard surfaces.

You will need a crane to get it out of the bed.

Even my tires loss air. This is no reason to condemn the TrailAir hitch.

I carry a 5 gallon air tank rated for 135PSI in the bed of my truck to add air as needed to the TrailAir hitch. I usually have to add air to the TrailAir hitch when I take the trailer out of storage same for the on the tires on my trailer.
I looked at the Mor/ryde king pin and the Demco glide king pin box when I first was looking to improve the king pin ride on my first trailer. What I did not like about these king pin boxes was they only move in one direction, fore-aft and no up down motion like the TrailAir hitch.

With my new hitch a Demco Auto Slider, I do not have any chucking do to a loose fit in the hitch jaws now. So, I only need the up down control that the TrailAir Hitch provides.

My tires doesnít lose air like the TrailAir does, I hardly ever put air in my tires the whole season. The TrailAir every week. Should I trade campers it will not be for a Cedar Creek, most likely a Cardinal if I can option in the rear cap

I decided not to get the trail air and got the normal pin box. Iím trying to get big truck big RV to respond to me about his new Reese 21k Goosebox. Looks nice on his new video on YouTube.

Right now I will be using the B&W slider with puck system. My dealer likes that one the best.

Iím still gonna research, I got 4-6 before the RV is here.

Anybody seen a Reese goose box in action?

I just purchased an Trail Air from Orvin in April. When he installed it the first thing he did was unscrew the air fill valve and wrap the threads with Teflon tape. He told me that Trail Air did not do a good job of putting a sealant on the threads. I have had to put air in mine once since then. Might try adding Teflon tape to the valve threads to see if this helps.
