Dometic Brisk Air II A/C
1 Attachment(s)
My Dometic Brisk Air II 15k BTU mounted on my 2018 Vengeance 25v, seems to be leaking compressor oil on my roof. I brought the unit in to my local dealer to have it checked and they kept it for two months with it plugged in and the AC turned on. I was told that that there was nothing wrong with the AC because it would have stopped working by now if there was a leak. They claim the dark black lines from the AC is condensation mixing with dirt on the roof. The problem I have with this is that the rest of the roof is spotless. It is cleaned after every use, parked under a roof and covered. I scrubbed the area, which is really bad since being ran for two months, for hours with a medium brush and Dawn and it is not as dark as it was but still a noticeable stain. If this is oil, I know I will have roof problems at some point.

I filled out a contact form on the Dometic website and even attached pictures two weeks ago and I have yet to hear anything from them.

I read online of other incidents with Dometic 15k units having this problem. Anyone else experiencing this problem?

Maybe it's the picture, but that doesn't really look like oil. I have to agree that if it was compressor oil, your A/C would have quit by now.

Have you taken the shroud off the A/C to see if you could pin point where it's coming from?

Take some Awesome cleaner and spray on a rag and rub on it. See if that cleans it off.

I will also say to remove the A/C shroud to inspect everything under the shroud. You may find that there are leaves in the bottom of the drain pan. IF so--the condensate that builds up within the pan will wet the leaves and tannic acid will be the result. Tannic acid is a brown color and that could be what is staining the roof.
