slide out issues bringing slides in

2019 Cardinal 5th wheel 3850

we have a 2019 Cardinal 3850 5th wheel. When we go to bring slides in they don't always work right away, takes several times pressing pad to bring in. When i press extend/out it sounds like it's going and is all the way out and when i press in, it doesn't always work. We are always plugged in when this is happening and are getting ready to leave so we have been plugged to 50 amp for at least 2 days. what could be the issue here? a delay somewhere?

When you press the In function do you hear the pump running? Or is it only after you press it a few times that you hear the pump running?

No do not hear the pump but can see the wheel cart spinning on the Lippert panel. thanks

If the pump isn't running until you press the function a few times it could be a touchscreen issue or it could be a relay issue, but if it were the relay you'd think it'd affect it both ways..

What if it's the solenoid on the valve that switches the hydraulics from out to in?

The pump motor could be running but pressure is being applied to move the slides out, not in. Some of us geezers don't hear as well as we used to. The OP may not actually know whether the pump is running or not.

I always got to ask if the RV is still within warranty? IMHO you might be best to get it in to the dealer for service vs. trying to decipher the issue yourself. I always try to remind folks that some things, if in warranty, are best left up to the dealer to fix because once you stat tinkering with it and find you can't fix it or the part is very expensive the first thing a service dept. will do is ask if you did anything to it. Then they'll blame it on you and all bets are off on the warranty. thxs

You take it apart carefully, leaving no traces. Use proper wrenches, not pliers. If you cannot proceed without leaving tracks, you put it back together. There is no trace left that would prompt the dealer to ask whether you worked on it.

If you don't know how to do this, or lack the right professional tools, then don't attempt it.

I agree 100%. Good point.

Touchscreen is like a computer or a cellphone. Sometimes rebooting (shutting power) and letting it reload is all it takes. Try that first.
