Just bought a brand new Cherokee grey wolf with the built in Hotspot, do I really need to buy the 350$ router itís telling me I need or is there another alternative?

Boy thats a good question I would like to know the answer also, luckily there are some experts on the forum who should be able to answer that and give good advice.

Intergration

The Lippert router includes a sim card slot so it can connect to your cellular provider and get you internet access and it also integrates into your OneControl system with their app and you can access it from anywhere if the router is on line. Only off the shelf router I am aware of that comes with a sim slot built in is a Netgear Nighthawk router and it is not cheap, price is right up there with this one. Will Nighthawk allow you to use the OneControl app, not sure.

If all your looking for is a cell hotspot for internet access try a MiFi device or use your phone. As far as connecting the Nighthawk or any other device to the antenna on the roof, without seeing the connection cable coming out of the antenna that is an unknown.
My thoughts without being able to look deeper into it's specs. Sure there are others on the forum know more than I.

Take a look at Visible. Unlimited internet for $40 a month. If you need to connect more than one device you can buy a small travel router for under $50.

From what I've read, Visible is limited to 5 Mbps. While I don't expect video streaming speeds, 5Mbps is pretty slow.

Visible does not enforce the 5mbps limit. My average over the last year is 22.3mbps. Your mileage may vary.

That's as good as I get with my Android phone as hotspot on Verizon. Visible uses the Verizon network, correct?

Yes Visible does use the Verizon network.
