Long time dreamers, first time owners
 

Howdy, I almost feel guilty for joining the surge of new RV owners during the pandemic but I will not apologize for pursuing our dream of RV ownership. We are thrilled and pinch ourselves each time we wake up and see out TT in our driveway. I have been in "RV school" for over 4 months while our trailer was being built. Watching every video I could get my hands on. The Surveyor Legend 19BHLE checked off all the boxes for our needs. We have 3 grandkids and a dog that we hope to bring with us on every excursion.

No guilt allowed here. That looks like a beautiful rig that you and the grandkids can enjoy. If it's not already included, you might want to look into a spring tension rod and a set of curtains for privacy.

Congratulations on your purchase! We're in a similar boat - ordered our first camper - a 19BHLE in September; just waiting for it to be built & delivered. Studying all we can and stockpiling upgrades and parts and supplies and all sorts of good stuff.

Can't wait to start this adventure! Going to live vicariously through you, if that's OK. :-)

Growing up, my parents had a 1968 Norris travel trailer; loved that thing to death (and my parents wish they could find another! Lost that one in a flood...) So I'm familiar with ownership & operations (Which, surprisingly, haven't changed *that* much ...) - but this will be the first for "my" family. Glad to be finally making the jump; we've talked about it for years, but finally putting pencil to paper and making it happen.

IMHO the very first upgrade is a Tire Pressure Monitor for the trailer. Safety first.

Ha! Yeah, I did the same thing for the 6 weeks leading up to our delivery. I was in "Trailer school" youtubing marathons and creating purchase lists for items. Many items have been knocked off the list and I have already done several upgrades/modifications. We love it and are already going out on another weekend adventure in it. Excited for you

Which one do you have? I have added a lock box on the front tongue to secure my lithium battery and tools, swapped out all the storage bay locks and front door lock, built shelves in the dinette seats...having fun

Woot had a great price on it, I could not resist for $236.00 with the FlowThru Sensors.

For the last three years I was using an el-cheapo from Amazon $69. But it worked fine no issues except it was hard to see.

I really think the 19BHLE is about as good as it comes in the <5000GVWR arena. I must've looked at 50 different models from every manufacturer you can think of, and can't find anything we like better!

Which lithium battery did you choose? I’m thinking about the Ohmmu battery - ideally two of them, but that gets pricy!

And while I’m asking - why swap the locks? Is there something “less than good” about the factory ones? I was thinking about putting one of the “passcode” locks on the main door, but I really like the handle-style lock Surveyor is using. Can’t find that with a passcode entry.

The vast majority of exterior storage locks are keyed the same.
No really. You can walk around the campground and open everyone's storage compartment :-)

Great to see another newbie like us. We just purchased our 18RB a few weeks ago and have been practicing in the driveway.
Our maiden voyage starts Jan 3rd. Looking forward to hearing about your adventures.
I have to agree with the above about a Tire Monitoring System as one of the first big purchases. We just bought one for our camper along with a rear camera as well.

Congratulations!

One thing about "maiden voyages". Keep them very close to home and or the dealer you bought it from. Way too many horror stories about first trips. Driving or towing a new rig can bring out the issues that a driveway can not.

Well, the Maiden Voyage is from Mineral Va- Naples Fl.
Then heading towards Oklahoma then Texas.
Rounding that up with heading up through Missouri, Illinois and Indiana, then back to Virginia.
It will be a good shake down voyage wouldn’t you say.
