Portable Wood Splitter
Have you guys seen those portable wood splitters on TV? I just saw them. My wife says they've been around for a while. Looked pretty cool. Some even come with their own hammer. Anybody have any experience with them? They look pretty simple. Large or small version? Thanks!

I have not seen them.

Give us a link. I know of about 4-5 different versions of a so called "portable" wood splitter. https://www.northerntool.com/images/...90_400x400.jpg https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/01...g?v=1629290930 https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/...jf0LL._AC_.jpg https://cdn.homedit.com/wp-content/u...g-Splitter.jpg https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/...AC_SL1200_.jpg https://cdn.trendhunterstatic.com/th...-kindling.jpeg |

I AM the portable wood splitter! Me and my 8lb maul!
|
they are at Tractor Supply $80.00.
|
That's funny you guys! :roflblack: Never seen any of those except for the hammer and the uni-bit. That one didn't work worth a darn. I've always used a plain old axe or a machete to make kindling. I think I might like that one in the link.

Most places I've traveled to prohibit bringing your own wood, forcing you to buy it locally which usually comes split and seasoned.

this one from Harbor Freight really does work and is great for a camper, .... not expensive and has a small footprint for storage, ... that price is $24.99 and with their 10, 20 and sometimes 30 percent discounts, it can be even cheaper, ..

never seen the "FIRE WOOD POLICE" .i travel with cut up 2x4s,2x6s etc. then go campfire wood collecting at campspots ,people left on ground. cant get in trouble for cut lumber . treated ? bugs dont eat treated wood . bad fkr atmosphere ? not live the volcano in Tunga didnt put crap in the atmosphere.

That design seems like it could get stuck, with no leverage to get it out. Is our experience different?
I don't think I'd be willing to pay $2,499, even if it does work. :) Quote:

This just pours more salt on an open wound I have haha. For making kindling I bought a fisker hatchet last year. Our camper flooded during Ida and was totalled. Somehow when cleaning it out the fisker hatchet was left behind. I will buy another but I had basically just bought that one so it still bothers me that I left it behind.

It does get stuck occasionally but the wood is relatively easy to remove. There were some early reports of the maul detaching but i have abused mine and it is still in good shape. I bought this one about 7yrs ago https://www.amazon.com/Timber-Tuff-T...a-522222970020 |

Depends on how much firewood you have to split and how much effort you want to put into it. https://www.amazon.com/SuperHandy-Sp...&ts_id=1091946
Not practical for rving though |
