SOLVED- A/C breaker trips quickly
Hello, I am new to this forum.
We bought our Rockwood Roo 21SS at the Novi, MI camper show in 2010.
Just started having an issue when turning AC on, the blower sounds like it is not running at full RPM, and kicks off breaker after about 2 minutes.
Refrigderator is off, and all other electrical stuff is off.
Question is could this be a filter clog issue?
My question to you is what are plugged in to?
If you are in a 30 AMP, something is a foul.
If you are using an adapter to plug in to a standard 120 volt 15 AMP outlet, you will trip the system real quick. Not enough power to the AC and it trips.
I have to agree with Depo -
Verify you have 30 amps with the correct polarity in the plug you are plugged into
Sounds more like an electrical problem more so then a clogged filter.
you can look at the filters and see if they have too much dust in them but I highly doubt a clogged filter is your issue.
We tried last week to make a 20 AMP outlet support the AC with the adapter. It worked under 80 degrees Farenheit, once over 85 the draw was too high and popped the system.
Kudos to my Forest River bretheren.
I opened up my Breaker Box in the garage and yanked out the punnie 15amp breaker and the accompanying 12ga wires.
Ran to the local big box store and purchased a 30amp breaker and some 8ga wire.
Promptly upgraded the Breaker Box with the bigger badder goodies, and through in a Hospital Grade Outlet for good measure.
WaaLaa... Got me some Cool breeze flowing in the Roo again.
Twas an impotant thing, my daughter and 4 grandkids from Texas are visiting for the summer.
Our humble ranch is about 900 sq.ft. So the Roo acts as our guest house.
Happy trails y'all...
See ya at Maumee Bay at the end of July, Higgins Lake South in August, and Pokagon in October.
Awesome! I love a happy ending!
Thanks for the follow up. :signhavefun: :trink39:
