8314ss

Hi all, I,m new to the forum. I just purchased a new Rockwood 8314ss. Pick it up saturday. I was wondering how will these things tow? My 27 foot Sunline I could hardly tell was back there. TV is a 2500HD Duramax and I up graded to the reese daul cam setup. Not sure I needed that, was that a waste of money or are they worth it?

The dual cam was not a waste of money. With the length of the 8314SS, you need more than a friction sway control.

The 8314SS will pull easier than your Sunline, because of the rubber torsion suspension.

Happy Camping

Well first off, :welcomesign:to FRF. I have the same model but mine is an 06 and I have the same hitch system. I used to tow with a 1997 GMC Suburban 3/4 ton, no problem with it. Now I just started tow with a new 2008 Chevy heavy duty 1/2 ton, same camper and the new truck tows better the the 3/4ton Sububan with the same hitch system. As long as the hitch work is done correctly it will pull like a charm. The other thing I found out is that the 97 Suburban has a 130" wheel base and the new Chevy pick up has 143" wheel base and I think that's why it tows better, control is stable and better respones. Enjoy your new rig and keep us up dated on how things go.

As said above, Welcome! I pull my 07 3814SS with a 2500HD Dmax myself (crew-cab/standard bed) and haven't experienced any sway issues, but i do use the W/D system i had on old camper (Ezy i think it is).. Love the trailer and full timed in it a few months last year when changing jobs/moving. Pretty standard on the options i believe, but mine happens to have the atrium windows. We love 'em, but did change to mini blinds on some of the windows due to their length and having to reach behind everything.
Our 1st bed also had a support issue, so after the 2nd warranty service they gave me one of the newer airbed styles with the storge drawer. That's handy!
Welcome, and enjoy the new camper!
