I always use a regulator. Some places I've been have really high pressure. To verify pressure I have a gauge that screws to a hose bib, but most of the time I trust the regulator.

I've glassed enough flexible parts to know that it stands up to flexing, but it's a fair bit of work.

I think I'll do that and cover it with this. That will cut down on the work quite a bit.

I don't have a lot of experience with trailers, but I've never seen an automotive brake drum shatter. I take it trailer drums are a lot lighter duty for that to happen.
