The answer to the original question can be found in the owners manual to your truck. My 2013 5L f150 states that tow haul mode only needs to be used towing on grades. straight and flat not necessary

There’s so few changes from ‘20 to ‘21 models of geo pro to make any fuss. I believe they increased the solar wattage on the given package, the rest of the changes are very minor.
