An OEM furnace in proper working order draws combustion air from outside the camper and exhausts outside.

AFAIK, It’s not a special gear. Tow/haul changes the shift points and delays or turns off overdrive. When you accelerate it is simply downshifting.

Probably not on a boat trailer. Boat trailers don’t usually have electric brakes, but should have had surge brakes, but not sure how/if they have breakaway capabilities.
