The condition of the u bolts on a 6 year old unit seems awful unusual to me. Not hard to change if you have some hefty tools.

Assuming the front brakes a disc brakes, they are easy to replace....

Mine has a round cover in the floor of the compartment that I remove and put the slinky through for a better angle of attack. Any dribble is minimal and I just hose it out.
