Don't forget to remove the sleeve when you remove the hitch. Ask me how I know. I work in the metal industry so I got a piece of 2" Square tubing and cut it to length. Home made sleeve.

My guess is they have grease on the inside of the hubs or on the magnets. I would say pull the drums and clean everything and my bet is they will work again.
