We tow with a 3.0L 24V turbodiesel also. The trailer is on the smaller side, a GeoPro 19, but it has the lousy aerodynamics of any other boxy trailer. Unloaded MPG is 26-27, towing drops to 12.5-14....

GeoPro 19FD weights

We have a 19FD. With assorted stuff in the front storage areas, full freshwater, full propane's, 2 Gr24 batts on tongue, 75# of rear rack & bikes... Gross weight is 4050, tongue is 590.

Lighter batteries?

Switching from a pair of Gr24 wet batteries to a single Lithium would net similar electric storage capacity but less weight.
Something to consider, especially if the house batteries are from 2019.

That's what I've been doing for years. Put ball in trailer hitch, latch hitch, lock hitch, swivel hitch insert back outta the way. The bars are on their perches, pinned in place.
