Occasionally I'll drain mine, mostly not throughout the camping season. Seems like I've seen something in the past about the anode rod drying out and decaying faster. Anyone have anything on this?

Get the Victron. It's a great tool to monitor battery usage, including knowing if someone left a light on when not needed. It's the little things like that that will aid in saving battery AH's.
