I have run both at the same time and it does heat...

I have run both at the same time and it does heat up faster. Just remember to turn off electric before draining the tank. If it turns on with no water inside it will burn out instantly

I have a georgetown 351ds and I have a switch box that I have to move the selector from over the air antenna to cable or aux if I get a satellite dish. It's in a front cabinet. You may have that also

I installed one after my first oil change and that was 18k miles ago and 27 states. Have not it open up or be an issue since I installed it. And yes it is easier and less messy for doing oil changes.
