It looks to me like they removed the duplex receptacle and trimmed the opening and installed the 50 amp receptacle.

Originally there was probably a 30 and a 20 amp breaker and they just replaced...

We see window unit A/C's in tents all the time around here during the summer. And we also see a lot of tents in full hookup sites, so they can run those A/C's.
