Louvered tailgate

Will a louvered tailgate be a good investment for pulling a Fifth wheel.

I don’t own a fifth wheel, but I have read many a thread on numerous RV forums about this and the general opinion seems to be that they are a waste of money and serve no benefit. But they look cool.

Not so much louvered, but a notched tailgate may be a good investment. One time of forgetting to lower the tailgate when hooking or unhooking and you'll have a not-so-nice notch in your tailgate. I haven't done that, but I see plenty of folks that have.

Most folks I know with a notched tailgate have one because they already crunched the original. And the notched replacement is usually cheaper and easier than an OEM replacement and paint.

I see no advantage to having a notched one.

I have a louvered tailgate and I like it. I hit the original tailgate and the louvered one too, well a little. I would have got one anyway because I like them. We buy what we want not because someone says they sees no advantage. A tailgate is a tailgate, no difference

I have one and like it. Easy to get things in and out of the bed. In the winter when we're not using the RV, I put the regular one back on. But I'm really good either way.
